Link an exchange

Connect an exchange with a read-only key and let your history sync itself.

Link an exchange: Connect an exchange with a read-only key and let your history sync itself.

Key points

  • Coinfig connects to an exchange with a read-only API key, so it can see your history but never move your funds.
  • When you create a VALR key, tick View access only and leave every other permission unticked.
  • Paste both the API key and the API secret; the secret is the longer of the two.
  • Connected exchanges re-sync automatically, and Sync now on the source card refreshes one at any time.
  • If an exchange API does not reach your oldest trades, add a CSV export for that period too.

Your history lives on an exchange. How do you bring it into Coinfig without giving it access to your funds?

Open Exchanges and wallets. Every source feeding your ledger lives here. Choose Connect an exchange or wallet, and pick where you keep your crypto. Search covers more than fifty exchanges.

For VALR, Coinfig connects with a read-only API key. Open How to get your key. It shows where to create that key in VALR, step by step. Paste the API key and the API secret. The secret is the longer one. Read-only means Coinfig can see your history. It can never move your funds. Choose Connect VALR. Coinfig checks the key, reads your history and sets up automatic updates. Your transactions come in while you carry on. Most people use two or three places, so add the next one here. The source card shows the sync, then how many transactions arrived. Sync now refreshes it at any time.

Pick the exchange. Paste a read-only key. Your history syncs itself.
