Coverage

Direct from source. No middlemen.

Coinfig reads your history straight from the origin: direct exchange API connections and our own full archival blockchain nodes. Nothing is inferred from a third-party indexer, so the figures trace back to ground truth.

Exchanges

Direct, read-only API connections to the venues you actually use, local and global, plus a universal CSV importer for everything else.

The difference

A score that tells you when to trust the number.

Most tools calculate. Coinfig also tells you whether the calculation is built on complete data. The Data Completeness Score grades your year from 0 to 100 and gates the report, so you never file on a guess.

Coverage

Accounting coverage

What came in vs. what went out per asset, value-weighted so a R1 gap doesn't tank a clean year.

Transfers

Transfer traceability

Deposits and withdrawals matched across your exchanges and wallets; anything unmatched is listed for you to fix.

Gating

Report gating

The score gates your report, so you never file on a guess.

Gaps

Gap detection

Missing sources, unmatched transfers and unexplained outflows flagged before they reach a report.

How it works

Four steps, messy to filed.

1

Connect

Link exchanges via read-only API, add wallet addresses, or upload a CSV. Read-only access is enforced throughout, so Coinfig can never trade or move funds.

2

Complete

Run completeness checks and surface every gap, orphaned transfer and unknown event before you pay. No surprises at report time.

3

Review

Walk through classifications, assumptions, tax year and method. Every change is logged and auditable.

4

Report

Download a professional report with transparent assumptions, supporting schedules and a full audit trail ready for your accountant.

FAQ

Good questions.

Coinfig turns your exchange and wallet history into clear capital gains figures for the Australian income year, which runs from 1 July to 30 June. It works out proceeds, cost base and the capital gain on every disposal, and marks whether you held each parcel for less than or at least 12 months.

You get downloadable, transaction-level schedules and workings that support your capital gains reporting. Coinfig is a calculation and reporting tool, not tax advice, and it does not imply any endorsement by the ATO.

No. The figures Coinfig shows are the full capital gain, before the Division 115 discount.

Coinfig classifies each disposal as held for less than or at least 12 months, so you or your registered tax agent can apply the 50 percent discount after offsetting any capital losses, in the order that suits your position. This keeps the workings transparent rather than baking in a discount that depends on your wider circumstances.

For each disposal, Coinfig measures the time from when you acquired the parcel to when you disposed of it, and marks it as held for less than or at least 12 months at the 12-month boundary.

This is the split that determines whether the 50 percent CGT discount can be considered on that gain. The classification is shown on every disposal so you can check it.

Yes. The ATO treats a crypto-to-crypto exchange as a capital gains event, because you are disposing of one asset and acquiring another. The market value at the time of the swap sets the proceeds and the new cost base.

Coinfig records both legs of the swap and includes the disposal in your capital gains workings.

Crypto received from staking, and many airdrops, is generally treated as ordinary income at its market value when you receive it, separate from any later capital gain when you dispose of it.

Coinfig records these as income events valued at receipt. How a specific reward is treated can depend on the facts, so confirm with a tax adviser.

Yes. When you connect an exchange through its API, Coinfig uses read-only access to import your transaction history. It cannot place trades or move funds.

If you prefer not to share an API key, you can also import your history by CSV from most exchanges.

No. Coinfig provides calculations and reports based on the data you import and the settings you choose. It does not provide personalised tax advice, and it does not imply any endorsement or approval by the ATO.

For complex situations, such as business trading, mining or unusual transactions, consult a registered tax agent. You remain responsible for what you file.
