Build an accurate history for each tax year first. A tax practitioner can then advise on the right route for past years.
An exchange export on its own misses transfers between your own wallets. Coinfig finds those gaps for you.
Hand over one report with the schedules behind every number, so they can check it instead of rebuilding it.
Coinfig is a South African crypto tax report service. It brings your Luno, VALR, Binance and wallet history together with read-only access, checks it for missing transactions, applies the South African rules for capital gains and income, and gives you the figures and schedules for your ITR12. You or your tax practitioner file the return with the report as support. In short, Coinfig is a crypto tax calculator that turns your Luno, VALR and other exchange trades into a SARS-ready tax report.
Connect your exchanges and wallets and Coinfig pulls in your full history for you, with nothing to type in by hand. Your transactions are kept in sync. For wallets we read the blockchain directly, which picks up movements that exported statements often leave out.
For the technically minded: we run our own archive nodes for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Dogecoin and Cardano.
Direct, read-only API connections to the venues you actually use, local and global, plus a universal CSV importer for everything else.
Add a wallet address and we read its history from the blockchain itself, transaction by transaction. There is no file to export.
Coinfig checks whether anything is missing from your history and shows you what to fix. You get a data completeness score from 0 to 100, so you know how far to trust your figures before you pay.
We compare everything that came into your accounts with everything that went out, coin by coin. Small gaps count for little, so a R1 gap does not spoil a clean year.
When crypto arrives from a wallet or exchange you have not connected, we value it at the market price on the day, which is an estimate. Connect that account and we use the real figure. Your score is the lower of the two checks.
Link your exchanges, add your wallet addresses, or upload a file from an exchange we do not connect to yet.
Coinfig shows you what is missing from your history and how to fix it, before you pay.
Look over how your transactions were treated and change anything that is wrong. Every change is recorded.
Download your report with the figures for your return and the schedules behind them, ready for you or your accountant.

Coinfig uses the calculation method that fits your country's rules and shows the working behind every figure.
Coinfig works out each tax year separately, so you can catch up on years you have not declared yet.
Your tax practitioner gets the detail behind every number, so they can check your figures instead of rebuilding them.

Everything you need to know about Coinfig and your crypto tax reporting.
Yes. Disposals of crypto, such as selling, swapping or spending it, and crypto income, such as staking or mining rewards, are taxable in South Africa and belong on your return. Coinfig works out the figures from your history, so declaring takes minutes rather than a weekend.
Yes, in time. From 1 March 2026 South African exchanges report crypto holdings and transactions under the Crypto Asset Reporting Framework, and SARS already receives some exchange data. That is fine when your figures are right, and getting them right is what Coinfig does. Declaring properly is the simplest way to put the question to rest.
Take a breath, then get your full history and figures in front of you before you reply. Coinfig pulls your exchange and wallet activity together and works out the numbers quickly, so you can answer accurately and on time. A registered tax practitioner can respond on your behalf, and Coinfig works with practitioners who do this every day.
Yes. Coinfig calculates the gains, losses and income from your trading activity across exchanges and wallets, using the SARS rules for your tax year. It then produces a report that you or your tax practitioner can use when filing.
Usually not. Transfers between your own wallets and other exchanges are what tend to go missing, and they change the numbers. Coinfig's completeness check finds those gaps before you rely on the figures.
Yes. Start by building an accurate history for each year, which Coinfig does per tax year. A tax practitioner can then advise on the right route for past years, including the Voluntary Disclosure Programme where it applies. Coinfig gives you the figures, the practitioner gives the advice.
It depends on your intention and your pattern of trading. Holding for the long term usually points to capital gains, while frequent trading for short-term profit usually points to income. Coinfig applies the classification you choose and shows it in the report, so you and your tax practitioner can review that decision together.
For the 2026 year of assessment (1 March 2025 to 28 February 2026), non-provisional individual taxpayers file by 23 October 2026. Provisional taxpayers have a later deadline in January 2027. SARS publishes the exact dates for each filing season.
Every report gives you the figures for your ITR12 and the transaction schedules behind them. The Advanced plan adds the audit report, which shows how each number was reached, and accountant access so your practitioner can work from the same papers.
Coinfig only ever uses read-only access. You create the key with trading and withdrawal rights switched off, and you never upload an ID document. You can remove a source, or close your account and delete your data, at any time.
No. Coinfig prepares the figures. You or a registered tax practitioner file the return, and Coinfig works with practitioners who can help.
Annual plans are priced by how many transactions you have, starting at R190 a year for Starter, with no per-transaction fees. The pricing section on this page sets out what each plan includes.
